U3A members have helped to recreate the Weir Rockery, finding the splendour that it originally was, discovering unique plants, not seen for many generations.
Our sessions are monthly for 3-4 hours working alongside a NT gardener with the flexibility of addition sessions during the month.
Tools, gloves and knee-pads will be provided together with guidance - previous experience/knowledge is not required. Please wear suitable clothing.

The Weir Garden is a National Trust property, lying alongside the River Wye, 5 miles west of Hereford on the A436 Brecon Road.

PLEASE NOTE:
There are currently no vacancies or taster session availble.
Otherwise you could become a full NT Weir Garden Volunteer and help out.
Not suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The Weir Gardens and the Local National Trust properties are undergoing a structural re-organisation to prepare for any future climate changes, that might affect the plants and gardens.
On finding that the Rockery was not suitable for long term alpine plants, ideas from a previous age have been incorporated;
To develop a Japanese themed Rock Garden and Tranquil Space, for future generations to enjoy.
We have now restarted our 2026 season; being involved with both The Japanese Rockery and The Kitchen Gardens, plus helping where needed.

We hope others will visit and enjoy the scenery and peace found here, now and in the coming New Year.
